We're Baaaacckk! (Almost...)
We’re back! (Well, almost!)
Just missing the Halloween festivities but giving a great 1980s movie earworm (See Poltergeist for those of you confused right now) for our guests, we are almost back. Valrie and I have been overwhelmed by the number of guests referred to and contacting us for recording and blog contributions. It’s an honor to be a part of an effort to support advancing research, personal goals, and the journey toward terminal degrees.
We have a new look and some new goals as we took October to regroup. Our listeners will appreciate our upcoming episodes, with guests who range from AI leaders in business and academia to veterans using their research to change the lives of US service members, and insights from new students paving the way for DBA.
I have long borrowed the quote from my friend Melissa, who likes to say, “We plan and God laughs.”. Unfortunately for us, and for our colleague Valrie, a different “Melissa”, who wasn't kind and insightful, affected some of our launch dates, but most importantly, our co-founder and editing teams.
On October 28th, Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica, Valerie’s home country, where many of her family and our podcast editors live. Thankfully, Val’s family is safe and sustained minimal damage. Valrie has been heavily involved in recovery efforts through her geospatial and research company and her involvement with the Eastern Caribbean states.
As we prepare our relaunch of DBA Chronicles, we ask that you keep this country and its rebuilding efforts top of mind. Valrie’s doctoral research on small island developing nations, emergency responsiveness, and geospatial management was grounded in her passion for protecting the Caribbean. Her research and organizations will prove life-changing for citizens, and her passion for this research and work is what continues to drive innovation and better lives. This is the power of DBA in action and in the world.
Would you like to be a podcast guest or blog contributor? Please let us know. And, if you’d like more information on how to support the people of Jamaica, follow Valrie’s updates and efforts on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/valriegrant
We are eager to bring exciting new episodes and guests to our community. Thank you for your support during our rebranding and stay tuned for our exciting guests and topics!
